This year's CTUG conference on October 21st, 2015 was "The Best One Yet!," with record attendance for the 2nd year in a row.

The feedback from the vendors and attendees alike, was very positive, with comments like "very well organized"; "It's definitely well run, and has wonderful content." Registration went smoothly and the "Early Bird" prize draw succeeded in getting everyone into the Ontario room on schedule. HP generously donated a Slate 8 tablet for this draw. The schedule for vendor tracks was increased to 35 minutes, and more time was provided for attendees to move from one track session to another.

Something new this year, was a successful live broadcast of the morning sessions to 28 out-of-province attendees in Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia.

We were very fortunate to have executives from HP such as Bob Kossler (Director, WW Operations, Technology and Planning Mission Critical Solutions), Claudia Cress (VP Sales, Business Critical Systems Canada) and Tom Moylan (Director, Americas NonStop Enterprise Division). They provided very informative updates on HP's roadmap for NonStop.

We were pleased and privileged to have Jimmy Treybig, the visionary founder of Tandem Computers as our guest speaker. His presentation, The Importance of Users Groups to Customers was of great interest to our audience.

We were also pleased to have Michelle West (TD Bank) as our guest speaker, sharing their recent experience with implementation of Tokenization on TD Bank's Nonstop Servers.

All vendor booths were allocated and we were pleased to have 2 new vendors, Lusis Payments and Integrated Research. All 9 vendor tracks were well attended.

Wendy Bartlett provided the HP NonStop Security Update via conference call and slide presentation. A brief update about CONNECT activity was given by Kristi Elizondo (CEO - Connect).

The Q and A session was quite lively with many questions directed to specific members of the HP panel. The questions and responses provided interesting discussions. Many compliments and suggestions were provided on the Q and A sheets which were handed out.

After brief closing remarks by the President, the anxiously awaited drawing of the very popular and successful Passport to Prizes draw was held. The HP Grand Prize was a Slate 8 tablet.

A wine and cheese reception was held immediately after the conference where vendors and attendees were able to socialize.

The following day, the Education session was filled to capacity (40), for the Introduction to SQL/MX course, which was given by Serg Coren (VisualNewt, LLC). The course was very well received and both a light breakfast, snacks and lunch were provided.

CTUG is very grateful for the vendor, member and HP support. Many thanks are necessary to all who participated to make this a successful year and particularly for all the dedication and hard work of the CTUG board consisting of Barry Forbes, Mark Wilson, Pio Gomes, Dave Harper, Dick Bird, Kim Katigbak, John Lee and Enclaid Pinto, as well as our HP liaisons Jack McAuley and Dan Marshall. We were also fortunate to have Lorraine Forbes who ordered and prepared the attendee gift bags. She did a super job with the name badges and helping out at the registration desk.

We look forward to an exciting conference again next year.

Best Regards,
